As someone who works in a successful homeless prevention program in Atlanta, GA, I agree with all of the principles. (I work for Samaritan House of Atlanta, www.samhouse.org). This is important work the partnership is doing. I would like to hold up part of Principle #3, substance abuse prevention and treatment. We can do all of the job training and housing placement we want, but if we don't begin the process by being in relationship with the people we are working with, recognizing that this person may have a substance abuse problem, and then being a part of their recovery process, any other services we offer will be in vain. Housing placement and employment training can be done in conjunction with substance abuse treatment, but treatment needs to begin at the very beginning. Good work you all are doing.
